Plans for Community based Center for Art, Ecology and Healing in Nicaragua.
On the Pacific coast north of San Juan del Sur, a small group of people led by Tyler Tibbs, a native of Oregon, are planning to build a sustainable minded center for art, ecology and healing to be known as Parque Maderas. Focused primarily on ceramics, reforestation and cultivation of various micro crops at first, the center will break ground in January 2006 and evolve over the next few years into a village like environment.
The mission of the park is to build and manage a culturally, spiritually and ecologically aware retreat center that is sustainably integrated into the inspirational coastal environment of the Playa Maderas/ Los Playones area.
Parque Maderas will primarily be a retreat center in a village-like setting promoting a sustainable way of life. There will be lodging and dining facilities, art, ecology and healing workshops. The business will be focused on hosting traveling groups from yoga studios, art workshops and other educational institutions throughout North America and Europe on a seasonal basis. As well as hosting and promoting the development of Nicaraguan arts and crafts.
