Local Weather in Nicaragua

Nicaragua is located squarely in the tropics. Temperature
which varies very little with the seasons, is largely a function
of elevation and region.

Nicaragua has two seasons, the winter, which refers
to the rainy season, roughly runs from May to October,
and the summer, which refers to the dry season, runs
from November to April.

Temperatures generally range from 81-90 degrees (F)
in the winter and 85-95 degrees (F) in the summer. In the
mountains (tierra fria), the temperatures can be noticeably
cooler.

Rainfall also varies widely in Nicaragua. The Caribbean
lowlands are the wettest section of Central America and the
western slopes of the central highlands and the Pacific
lowlands recieve considerably less annual rainfall, being
protected from moisture laden Caribbean trade winds by
the peaks of the central highlands.

When to go:

The high season for tourism in Nicaragua is
from December to February. At this time it is very hot and
there is little rain. However, there is really no bad time to visit
Nicaragua. If you prefer less foriegners and don't mind an
occational rain storm, visit Nicaragua during the any of other
months. Basicall, as you read above, Nicaragua has a
wonderful climate year round and any chance to visit this
country will be a wonderful experience.
